 About Us
Tradition of Excellence

L A Aluminum was founded in Burbank, California as Los Angeles Aluminum Casting in 1947 by Robert Oswald, Sr. and his wife, Helen, as a two person shop located in a small Quonset hut. Robert Oswald had a mission statement: "Every customer is critical to our success and we gladly serve each with the commitment to excellence and the willingness to do whatever it takes to provide service that's exceptional." With this philosophy the business grew very quickly, and the expanding operation was relocated to Gardena, California. Further augmentation prompted another move in 1966 to Harbor City, California. In 1972, the Oswalds relocated to the present location in Hayden Lake, Idaho and shortened the name to L A Aluminum Casting Company.

In the beginning, when Robert Sr. went out to bring in new business, Helen would pour the castings and get the products ready to ship. Shortly after WWII, aluminum was in short supply and the delivery of their weekly allotment (2 ingots) of aluminum was carried in on the shoulders of one delivery man.

L A Aluminum Facility
The L A Aluminum Facility located in Hayden, Idaho was designed to offer a SINGLE SOURCE MANUFACTURER to its nationwide clients. This 27,000 square foot complex houses eight production stations and furnaces with a total aluminum melting capacity of more than 2,000 pounds an hour, plus extensive CNC machining capabilities and room for expansion.

In 1979, Robert Oswald, Jr. became president and CEO. Robert apprenticed under his father for ten years in the plant. After taking the lead he spurred the company's growth. Melting, heat-treating, and machining capabilities have all grown under his supervision. In the 1990's
L A Aluminum added CNC machining and has computerized many operations. In 2003 a $300,000 expansion was implemented, which included the addition of a 2003 Gidding & Lewis HMC95 horizontal milling machine and a 1988 Stahl 36' x 36' AutoCast tilt-pouring machine. The HMC95 horizontal milling machine increased the company's machining capacity by 50%. The AutoCast machine allowed L A Aluminum a 36' x 36' mold capacity.

L A Aluminum is committed to providing cost effective designs which increase the customer's profit margin on every job.

"With our acquired knowledge from over fifty years of experience and with our focus on continuous improvement we will continue to provide the best permanent mold castings available to our customers. We have the equipment, the tools, and most importantly, we have the people that are committed to lead the industry. L A Aluminum Casting produces the highest quality products at competitive prices. We are the single source manufacturer, committed to our customers' needs."
